About Malarkey shingles.
Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials. Using recycled content can sometimes diminish product quality. Not so with our shingles. Polymers from upcycled tires and plastic bags are added to our asphalt formulation to improve shingle strength and durability, while reducing landfill waste — extending product life and landfill life. Each average-sized roof of Highlander® AR shingles diverts the equivalent of roughly 4 tires and 2,900 plastic bags from the landfill.
The granules on the shingles are copper-coated to help reduce black streaks caused by algae growth. The algae warranty for the Highlander shingle is 10 years.
A limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Standard non-prorated period: 10 years. Algae warranty: 10 years. Standard wind warranty: 110 mph. Enhanced wind warranty: 130 mph.
