For bigger jobs, the City of Wyoming requires permits to be issued before construction or alteration work starts. Permits are handled by Building Inspections at City Hall, 1155 28th St SW (616-530-7285), and applications are filed online through the city's BS&A portal. Two Michigan Residential Code rules matter most on Wyoming's older roofs: ice barrier must run from the eave to at least 24 inches inside the exterior wall line, and a roof that already has two layers has to be torn off rather than covered again.
